The first thing that strikes the visitor to Mayfield is the scale of the place. It's massive, one of the largest privately owned cool-climate gardens in the world. If Garrick Hawkins had set out with such a grand horticultural ambition, he might not have chosen the challenging conditions of Oberon. But that's where he runs cattle on 2000 hectares and where he built a grand weekender for the family and began working on a garden. "When we started we didn't intend to make it quite this large," he says. "It just sort of evolved bit by bit." 

One of the most beautiful additions to your lawn area will be a water feature. Because of this, water features are one of our favorite landscaping projects. We can create them in the form of a pond, a fountain, or a waterfall. Water features, especially waterfalls and fountains, not only provide beauty for the eyes, but create a charming musical splashing that promotes relaxation and peacefulness.

As summer wanes, it's time to enhance our gardens to grab the most from the last precious weeks and to make sure we're ready with major improvements for next year.
